Alt-pop singer/songwriter Vérité released the lyric video for her new single “i’ll take the blame” today, Sept. 25. It’s the second majestic track off her upcoming project called New Limbs: Volume 1, which drops Oct. 9. The EP was put together and ultimately recorded during the pandemic almost immediately after her headlining US sold-out tour was canceled in March. The new music arrives just over a year after her critically-acclaimed New Skin record. As Ross Gellar would say, that’s a hell of a “pivot.” Instead of touring for her new record, she’s created newer music. And she’s touring, sort of. We’ll get to that.

Yes, Vérité has had quite a productive 2020 under the shittiest of shitty circumstances. She’s made a killer EP, delivered a beautiful late night TV performance on Colbert in July, and earlier this month launched a unique driveway tour “Live From 6ft Apart” which saw her perform in a few superfans’ driveways at a safe social distance. During one of the very last dog days of summer, I “zoomed” with this gracious talent about making an album during pandemic times, discussed the then-planned driveway concerts, and whatever else I could think of. Watch on.
